I am so excited about my post for next week – I have been holding onto some photos  for a few months until I had the time to edit them the way they should be done! Here is a little sneak peak:

Maternity Silhouette Photos in Winter at Como Park

  • February 24, 2010 7:00 am

I had a wonderful photos session with Lindsey & John at Como Park Conservatory, and here were two photos that didn’t really fit in with the rest of my blog post, but I just loved them! We had a little fun outside on a beautiful February day, getting some silhouettes of Lindsey’s cute belly!

Lindsey & John’s Como Park Conservatory Maternity Session in Saint Paul {expecting}

Several years ago, I was lucky enough to have Lindsey and John choose me to photograph their lovely summer wedding. After the wedding ceremony, we moved over to Como Park conservatory to take some photos of the large wedding party outside on the grounds. I often remember that day, because when we showed up to take photos, there were at least 10 other wedding parties around the conservatory in most of the “go to” locations, but we found some wonderful out-of -the way spaces to play around in, and I took some of my favorite photos at that time with the conservatory in the background.

After so much beauty and joy, I was thrilled with Lindsey recently contacted me about taking baby photos in a few months. It is one of the favorites parts of my work that I get to see people on some of the happiest days of their lives, starting with their wedding, and moving forward as they start new families or other ventures together.

For Lindsey and John, it was almost obvious that we needed to go to Como park to take some belly photos before the baby is born – I can’t wait to meet the newest addition!

Downtown Minneapolis Engagement Photos in Winter {engaged}

  • February 20, 2010 6:00 am

Minneapolis is not often known for the quality of light that we have. People talk about how amazing the light is in California, or parts of Europe, or South America. I get it, we have a lot of winter. However, I sometimes have those days in winter where I look up, and the silver-grey of the city matches the silver-white of the snow, and there is more than a little magic in that. So I present a few lovely images from a very fun engagement session in downtown Minneapolis:

Engagement photos at Loring Park and Walker art center {engaged}

I am finally getting around to blogging a few amazing sessions that I photographed with my friend and fellow photographer, Sarah McGee last March. These are from a beautiful engagement session we photographed in Loring Park and around the grounds of the Walker Art Center in downtown Minneapolis.

Wedding in Kilkenny Ireland {destination wedding photographer}

  • February 18, 2010 7:00 am

Before I was blogging regularly, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Katie & Billy’s wedding in Ireland. Billy is from Ireland, and Katie’s family is Boston Irish, so there was a lot of merriment, a good amount of guiness, and lots of laughter. Shooting a wedding in Ireland was like a dream come true, and it was such a pleasure to revisit the images and finally blog them! Some of my favorites are views of the Kilkenny Castle, where we did some formal photos.

Star Tribune coverage of our Valentine’s Day tradition – Febgiving

  • February 16, 2010 12:00 pm

This year marked our fourth annual Febgiving – Thanksgiving in February. The Star Tribune had an amazing article about us, our menu, and our fake holiday that is now a real holiday. At least to us.

Lindsey & John {expecting} – a preview

  • February 16, 2010 6:00 am

I photographed Lindsey & John’s wedding a little over 2 years ago, and I was thrilled when Lindsey told me they are now expecting their first baby! Here is a little preview of the fabulous time we had at Como Park:

Independent Wedding Fair at Five Event Center in Uptown

  • February 12, 2010 12:32 am

I was so lucky to be involved with the independent wedding fair. The fair was a low-key and informative event featuring 23 amazing local wedding professionals talking about what they do.

The wedding vendors that participated are very passionate folks. When you love what you do, it is wonderful to be able to talk with people about it, and the relaxed atmosphere of the FIVE event center mixed with the awesome vendors made for some great conversations with brides and grooms. It didn’t hurt that Jessica’s Cakes and Sweets bakeshop made impressive displays of their gorgeously edible creations.

It was a pleasure to finally meet Katrina from Studio Laguna Photography, and also spend some time with Krista from Never Miss A Moment. I had already met the amazing Maribeth from Red Ribbon Studio a few times, and her work on the design and marketing for the fair was tremendous. And, of course, my good friends Sarah from Sarah McGee Photography and Jennie of Sewell Photography are always a pleasure to spend time with.

If you are still looking for music for your wedding, I can recommend without reservation Urthema Quartet, who perform an amazing array of things from traditionally “wedding” pieces (Pachabels Cannon) to Jazz and pop, to their own compositions. Also, Radio K (University of Minnesota’s student radio) played an ecclectic mix of music on the first floor.

I was able to join in the discussion panel about planning your wedding timeline, and then moderating the panels on how to style your wedding and getting the most bang for your buck.

Special thanks to Kate from KNG Sommers Photography for many of the photos!

The amazing Fesitivities showcased many of their outstanding linens on the second floor tables.

Clockwise from top left – Sweets Bakeshop display, Jessica’s cakes amazing decorated cake, Liebling designs necklace, Sweets bakeshop made a splash at the opening of the fair, the Traveling Photobooth in action!

The panel discussions were wonderful – this one featured Antoinette from Paperista, Jen from JWP Jewelry Design, Maribeth from Red Ribbon Studios, and Jackie from Just Bloomed flowers as well as Jules from Knit-N-Jules (not pictured) and moderated by yours truly.
