I didn’t meet Kate and Patrick before their wedding (they have very busy schedules so we only talked over the phone and email) but I had a feeling we were going to get along well. So when they revealed that their vows contained a promise to have furry animals, I was totally enchanted by what a cute way that is to describe the home they want to create. It makes even more sense when you know that Kate works with large animals (mostly alpacas, I believe) and knitted the two wraps she wore during the wedding. Kate doesn’t know that one of my life goals is to start an alpaca farm, but I am sure I will ask her for advice if I ever do!
Their cozy and casual wedding continued with a reception at BeWiched Deli in Minneapolis, home to some of the best sandwiches and deli meats in the city. Thanks for letting me be a part of your warm and intimate wedding!

I love photographing Bar Mitzvahs – they make me think about life’s milestones and the way that we celebrate them.
Brandon’s Bar Mitzvah at the Temple of Aaron Synagogue in Saint Paul was a pleasure to photograph. The DJ was amazing, and all of Brandon’s family flew into town in the middle of winter to celebrate.

Jamie & Dane are having a whirlwind week – Dane is in town on leave, they bought a house, and they are finalizing the plans for their wedding later this fall! In the midst of all that, they also found time to take engagement photos in the Guthrie theater in downtown Minneapolis. Here is a little preview!

Not only is Carrie one of my best friends, but her marriage to Pete was the first wedding I ever photographed. I totally loved being a wedding photographer – the blend of candid and posed, the ability to use my creativity and also my people skills. It was awesome.
Now, almost 6 years later, they are expecting their first baby. I love shooting in the Madison Capitol, and it is even more interesting because Pete will be clerking there next year, and I am sure that Carrie and the baby will spend many lunches and late night dinners in those marble halls!

In August it is easy to understand why I love the Midwest so much. This was a favorite from Kate & Bret’s summer wedding in the prairies of south western Wisconsin.
Jim and I were over in Stillwater when the fog rolled in across the St Croix river and the landmark Lift Bridge. Here are a few of my favorites.

I love smiling brides and grooms, but I also love some photos that break the wedding rules, like this one of Nicole & Ben’s fabulous wedding at Minnehaha Falls Park.

I love taking photos in the Guthrie theater – so many colors and locations with awesome views of downtown Minneapolis. Meghann & Matt’s intimate wedding was no exception. I can’t wait to finish editing the rest!
If you are planning your wedding, especially if you are in Madison, I recommend checking out WisconsinWed.Blogspot.Com where you will see some practical musings about wedding planning as Rebecca goes through the stages of planning. She also had a wonderful write up of her experience with me when I took their engagement photos at the Farmers Market.

Last fall, I had a great time taking photos of Rebecca and Andrew at the Dane County Farmer’s Market in Madison as part of my Portraits with a Heart fundraising sessions. Rebecca & Andrew wanted something more casual and a little different, and so playing around at the farmers market was perfect (plus, I ended up with a pumpkin, some goat cheese, and some honey!).
