In a scientific world, like Jessica & Mike live in, there is still room for those things beyond our control. Snow, like love, is visible, observable, magnificent, and totally beyond our dominion. All we can do is acknowledge that it exists, and be thankful.

As much as I love black & white, I show mostly color images on my blog because it is hard to hide flaws in color – I want to show that I am capturing, editing, and processing images without flaws (at least, not technical ones).

A little fun with Megan & Alan in the JJ Hill Library.

I love to play with my surroundings, and I am always looking for ways to be creative and provide a handful of images that are totally unexpected.

For Meg & Alan’s wedding, I wanted to show them in the larger context of the library, so I set up a light behind the doorway to illuminate their corner and keep the focus on them, while still giving a larger picture of where they are.

I took a few photos without the light, and you can see what a difference having the ability to trigger a remote flash makes in a space like this.

That is the tatoo on Tiffanie’s arm. If the opposite is also true, then Tiffanie & Jason must have had many obligations in their past,  because with certainty, they now have much to be thankful for: their abundant and loving families, their wonderful children, and now each other.

This was a really terrible place to take photos – it was pitch black on the roof of the Pfister hotel, and I alternatively stumbled on an air vent and old cigarette ends. But, it was also the perfect place to take this photo – away from the crowd, a little fresh air, the city lights of Milwaukee, and Jason with his new bride.
