Well, I was already pretty excited to shoot Molly & Andy’s wedding next spring, but then they had the great idea to do an engagement session styled after Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings album covers. The 60s mod mixed great with the lobby of the lovely Riverview theater in Minneapolis, and then onto St Paul where Andy’s sweet skinny tie and new vintage suit inspired more Mad Men styled shots. Colleen & Micah met in high school in Madison, WI. They spent a few years apart before they ended up in Chicago, and now they are getting married later this year. Madison made a great backdrop for their engagement photos, and now I am even more excited to photograph their wedding later.
So excited to shoot Becky and Carrie’s wedding later this year! We had a great time at Lake Hiawatha park, where they wanted lots of fun summer photos, and the weather obliged. I forgot how fun it was to blow the dandelion’s when they bloom, so thanks to Becky & Carrie for reminding me

When Katherine and Ben were planning their wedding, they thought about all the places in Madison where they wanted to take their wedding photos. But they couldn’t think of a wedding venue that suited their personalities, so they decided to go to all their favorite places in Madison for engagement photos, and have their wedding in the Wisconsin Dells. Since we had a long list of places to go (Bascom Hill, Memorial Union, State Street, Capitol, Monona Terrace) I was very happy that we had such a perfect spring day in Madison for photos.
Katherine & Ben are getting married in 2011, but we had an amazing engagement shoot all around downtown Madison. Here is a little preview while I edit the rest of the session.
I think this photo explains why I am so excited about shooting Hanna & Wes’s wedding this August. I am not a huge shoe person (I have to wear practical shoes for long wedding days, so I don’t get much more fancy than danskos or camper most of the time), but I love that Hanna has hot pink saucy pumps, and Wes has comfy sandals, and they just seem to work together.
Jamie and Dane had never been inside the Guthrie theater in downtown Minneapolis, but they love the Minneapolis skyline, so it seemed like a natural fit for their delayed engagement session. It was only delayed because they were engaged last year before Dane was deployed, so they scheduled this fun session to coincide with Dane’s week of leave. The cold weather kept us mostly inside, which was a great place to be in March!
I am so happy for you two, and I am sure your October wedding will be fabulous (and hopefully, a little warmer).
Amy & Jeff wanted something a little different for their engagement photos so I suggested we play around at their favorite restaurant. We had a great time at Azia on Nicollet; eating delicious little plates, having some very strong drinks, and taking photos in their back rooms. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding later this year!
