  • August 23, 2010 8:00 am

Even though Heather & Mike met in Philadelphia, where they still live, they decided to have their wedding  in Madison, where Heather had gone to college. The Monona Terrace was a great place for their reception, especially since it offered this amazing view of the capitol at dusk!

Wedding Photos on Railroad tracks in rural Minnesota wedding {favorites}

  • March 3, 2010 8:00 am

Choosing a location for wedding photos is something I always discuss with my clients in the weeks before their wedding because it is such a large factor in the feel of your wedding photos. Sometimes, the reception or ceremony spaces are stunning, or a nearby landmark is a must have, but sometimes “great” locations don’t have to mean “pretty” locations.

For Holly & Ben’s wedding in rural Minnesota, we went to a few parks and took some lovely photos with lakes and flowers. Then on the way back to the church, Holly mentioned that there were some railroad tracks she liked and we stopped to take this photo. It is one of my favorites because the overcast sky made it possibly to capture the railroad tracks perfectly, and the windy day made Holly’s gorgeous silk dress blow around her like a cloud.

Emily & Kurt – A perfect summer wedding in Minnesota

  • February 9, 2009 7:48 pm

Emily & Kurt were married in Minnesota and had a beautiful summer day. Kurt went to college at UW-Madison, so there were lots of people after my own heart.

The colors of the wedding were bright and vibrant, and it made for a wonderful summer feel.

After the ceremony, Kurt and Emily and I went to a local park in Spicer to take some photos with just the two of them. I am so happy for them that the weather was so nice!

And then onto the reception, where the cake looked gorgeous.
