Amy told me they wanted to find someplace a little different for their wedding, and they settled on the lavish Loring Pasta Bar. I think some of the friends and family might have thought it odd that the ceremony was going to be in a restaurant when they got the invitation: but by the time the day arrived, no one could deny it was a totally classic wedding (with a little pop of style!). Wow, Amy and Jeff were so happy on their wedding day- I think it really comes through in the photos, since Amy couldn’t stop smiling the whole day, and Jeff just had a spring in his step. We took photo all over before going to the wedding ceremony and then the Varsity theater for their reception. I am just so happy for these two – congrats!

As a photographer, it is such a pleasure to take photos in a place like the Varsity theater – it is gorgeous, every wall is a backdrop, and it makes the whole vibe of the wedding elegant and casual. So when Amy & Jeff also asked for a portable portrait studio (a photobooth of sorts), I was happy to oblige! Here are some of the fun shots.

When I talk with bride’s and groom’s about their wedding details, one concern that comes up frequently is lighting – will it be too dark, will you see the ambiance, will it seem natural, can you hide the flaws?
A professional wedding photographer has already thought about those things, and has a game plan. A good professional photographer is also totally willing to abandon that game plan when the time is right. For most of this wedding at the stunning Varsity Theater in Dinkytown Minneapolis, I had two lights on stands around the room to add some direction to the dark ambient light. For this photo, though, I just turned all the lights off to capture Jennifer and Aaron being adorably in love.

Jennifer & Aaron were surrounded by fun people, a gorgeous day, and decadent locations for their wedding in September. We played around the Mill City Ruins park and St Anthony Main before heading to the Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown for their gorgeous and classy wedding ceremony. Then, a short walk to the Varsity Theater, certainly among the most unique venues in the Midwest for a wedding reception. What can I say – the food was great, the ambiance was lively, and everyone was laughing and dancing – it was lovely!
