A wedding is the start of a new family, a milestone for two families that already exist, and the bringing together of a huge community into one celebration.
That is why weddings matter, and its why, even with the hassle and expense and time and emotion that weddings demand, we still choose to celebrate together.
Robbin and Andy have made a life together in Colorado, but traveled back to Robbin’s childhood home outside Acadia National Park in Maine for their wedding. Much of Andy’s family traveled from Scotland, making sure that the level of formality included “kilted”. There was scotch whisky and blueberry soup (a thing in Maine, and delicious).
And we ended the night with a Scottish ceilidh dance and some of the clearest stars in North America.
Thanks for letting me be a part of your wedding day, it was extraordinary.
