Honestly, Kelly and Jason’s intense love of many things sci-fi was such an awesome running theme for their wedding. I loved geeking out with them, finding all the details (because, well, I am also a sci-fi nerd) and documenting how much fun they had. One thing I find difficult as I write about weddings all the time is this – we often look through photos from events and focus on the details that look charming, the elements that stand out. But to me weddings aren’t about the trappings. I don’t want to distill a celebration down to the most common…
Thrilled to share Brittany and David’s Loring Restaurant Wedding! It was truly a pleasure to work with them on their lovely and very fun wedding. I’m deeply touched by their kind review of me on the Knot: We can’t recommend Becca enough! Our engagement and wedding photos are gorgeous! Becca helped us relax and made us laugh and feel comfortable, so our genuine happiness showed through in the pictures. – Brittany and David Brittany and David are a wonderful mix of planning and ease, of elegant first dances followed by a caricature artist, or carefully chosen painted shoes (for her)…
Shooting frequently in the same places can either be a challenge or a repetition. I feel so lucky to have clients who get married at the Loring Pasta Bar and Varsity Theater– no matter how often I shoot there, there is always a new angle to find and bring a different perspective. I love the dark moody-ness and the wacky eccentricities of the space, and the combination of vintage and post-apocalyptic warehouse. Sometimes you find the southern charm, sometimes the french noir, sometimes the modern color, but always something new. And so for Jess and Luke, the Loring and Varsity was all vintage charm –…
“You were so fun to work with and..we miss you” an unconventional way to email your photographer after your wedding, but perhaps my favorite email to date. I loved working with Katie + Ross for their Varsity Theater wedding – they laughed a lot, brought a laid-back style, and really seemed to be present for their guests. Also, those guests truly know how to dance. In short – Back at you, Katie and Ross – I miss you, too!
If music be the food of love, play on – Susan + Levi’s wedding at Loring Pasta Bar and Varsity Theater.
The wedding party was neatly arranged – a pleasant balance of height and color – I snapped a picture, and then a swarm of runners raced past. We had inadvertently posed at the start of a 5K, and the wedding party cheered them on. And thus began Nick and Heidi’s wedding. They may be accountants and natural planners, but they allow a lot of spontaneity to pop in, and that makes for a beautiful combination. ABOUT THEIR LORING WEDDING The Loring restaurant is one of the most unique spaces in the country for a wedding ceremony. Guests always are shocked…
Shannon + Sean put effort into the little things that mattered to them (like Sean’s amazing ring made from Elk horn, or Shannon’s blue gloves), and then they let the rest of the day unfold as it would, from a little snow to a lot of laughter and some great food. What a perfect way to warm up a Minneapolis winter! Hotel: Aloft Ceremony: Loring Pasta Bar Reception: Varsity Theater Floral: Martha’s Gardens
