For those of us who attended UW Madison, there is a part of you that comes alive when you hear a good marching band. Having a wedding featuring the UW Marching band is almost like a homecoming, and also like the start of a new chapter. This is a love story. Yes it is a love story between MaryClaire and Patrick. It is also love of the UW Marching Band for your Madison Wedding. Does it feature the UW Marching Band’s 5th Quarter performance? Yes, complete with Bucky Badger. Celebrations matter. Celebrations matter because we bring our communities, our families, our people together so rarely. A wedding day isn’t the day that two people decide to spend their lives together – that is an ongoing process, started before the wedding, lasting throughout their marriage. A wedding day is simply the day that we choose to celebrate it – that we say to our communities “we have chosen each other”, and that your community gets to finally party! And that is pretty much what happened for Emma and Al’s wedding at the Madison Club. A totally gorgeous day, a breaking…
If what they say is “Nothing is forever” Then what makes, then what makes, then what makes Then what makes, what makes, what makes Love the exception? -Outkast (Hey Ya) One major problem with shooting weddings all year round is that I end up fairly busy all year round. It is lovely to have a mix of temperatures and seasons and people, but it also means I never have a long “blogging month” anymore. Which is to say, I’m only now catching up on blogging all the amazing couples I got to work with last year. Not least of which…
I don’t know that there is anything more I can say than this image already says – Betsy and Nic and Madison’s capitol from the Edgewater hotel, after a full day of wedding and celebrating and laughing. Also, no rain.
Thoughts on a Madison Wedding, finding inspiration, and civic architecture’s role on marriage. But how is a taste in this beautiful art to be formed in our countrymen, unless we avail ourselves of every occasion when public buildings are to be erected, of presenting to them models for their study & imitation? – Thomas Jefferson (in discussing the construction of the Capitol Building in Washington DC) Whenever I find myself in Madison I always hope to spend time at the Madison capitol building, one of the best pieces of civic architecture in the country. It is open to the public…
We wanted to showcase all of downtown Madison – the lakes, the University, the Capitol, state street, the summer easy feeling, the terrace. And I think we managed to fit it all in, with a lot of laughter to make it fun along the way!
Molly and Andrew’s Madison wedding at Lake Windsor Golf Club celebrated all the ways they love to be together. Friends were greeted with a bloody mary bar, lots of time to be together on the gorgeous outdoor space, and only the best in french fries. I grew up in Madison and always love photographing weddings there – the trees seem a little wilder, the beer flows a little easier, and summer nights have the most gorgeous blue skies. Thanks, Molly and Andrew, for choosing me to be there to document your wedding! Since moving to Minneapolis, one of the things I…
