Lakewood Chapel Weddings
The Lakewood Chapel is one of the most beautiful and unexpected places for a wedding in Minneapolis. It is perfect for couples open to a gorgeous, intimate space with a European vibe, and who are willing to embrace its location inside a cemetery.
What is the Lakewood Chapel?
This small chapel showcases colorful mosaics across practically every surface, culminating in a stunning dome. It was completed in 1910, and is a hidden gem just to the south of the Uptown neighborhood in Minneapolis.

Why Choose Lakewood Chapel for your wedding?
The space will certainly wow your guests and be stunning in photos, but it also is an intimate and quiet space for weddings. Unlike larger buildings, this space features an entry hallway and small chapel space, making for a cozy wedding celebration.

A Chapel for weddings and funerals
Ceremonies need to be coordinated with the other needs of the chapel and cemetery space. This often can limit the extended time around ceremonies, though in my experience there has always been enough time for portraits and an unhurried experience. This does mean it is not a good space for raucous crowds, but instead more centered and thoughtful celebrations.

Portrait spaces around Lakewood Chapel
Besides the chapel space itself, the grounds of the cemetery lend themselves to portraits. As a human, I try to not include gravestones or other remembrances that are not connected to the wedding, but the buildings and grounds are meant for contemplation and enjoyment by the living, and are lovely for portraits.
