Elements of Indian and Afghan culture unite in this Minneapolis Indian Wedding
At its core, any wedding is equally a transition point for a couple as well as a joining of two families. If, like Zainab and Zubair, you have so much family to celebrate with, those two aspects merge into one happy ceremony – part tradition and part something unique and new to the couple.
Photographing Zainab and Zubair’s multi-day wedding was a true pleasure. Their family and friends made a large energetic crowd of support, from the pre-ceremony dinner with dancing to Zubair’s entrance in a carriage and the wedding ceremony itself.
Zainab was gorgeous in each of the outfits she wore, bedecked with jewelry from the world over, and happy the whole time. Zubair had a sword (smartly tied up to avoid accidents), some really great dance moves, and a joy in his heart.
The rainy weather meant we took most photos inside the hotel, which meant getting creative with lighting and posing. To add to that, we took most photos with a real eye to modesty, as that is the traditional aim, so even though they have dated for a while, there was a minimum of touching. Add to that a cake, some crying, a lot of color and laughter, a stage full of happy family groupings, and it was quite a full weekend. And now Zainab and Zubair have brought their families together while also forming their own bond.
