Love for a city where I work and live
I’ve photographed weddings in Minneapolis for 20 years. And its also the city I call home- I run my business here, I raise my family here, and I’ve built my life here.
It is full of vibrant parks I enjoy as a photographer and as a denizen – it is a city I know well.

What it means to be a Minneapolis Wedding Photographer
To be a photographer in Minneapolis means to balance the heartiness of this midwestern city with the elegance of its urban core. I know how to find a great view of the skyline, when to take photos in the North Loop, where to warm up for winter portraits, when permits are required, how to park at the Stone Arch Bridge, and how to best avoid the crowds. I know parks that easily accommodate large groups, and ones that feel cut off from modern life.
It is also a city that has come together in community on an international stage more than most. It has been a notable decade in Minneapolis and I’ve been humbled and lifted by the community spirit and involvement that Minneapolis embodies. That spirit has always been here, quietly participating in neighborhood orchestras, high rates of voting and volunteering. That community spirit is part of what keeps people connected to Minneapolis, even as they travel the globe and make lives elsewhere, and then it brings them back to celebrate their wedding here, with family.

What is my style?
I work with couples that want to be fully present on their wedding day. Couples who want lovely images of their celebration, but not to feel that they are in a photoshoot. Couples who plan to have a lot of fun with their guests, and want photos to prove it. Couples that want to show off the very best of Minneapolis to out-of-towners and local guests. Couples that want me to worry about complicated lighting, dark spaces, tight corners, and loud guests so that they don’t have to.
I’ve been photographing weddings for 20 years. My style isn’t the right fit for all couples, and I don’t change my style to fit trends. I’ve been consistently photographing weddings with a focus on storytelling, editorial portraits, and creative documentation of spaces. I want my portraits to feel lived in by the people in them. If that sounds like something you are interested in, lets connect.

Frequently asked questions about Minneapolis wedding photography
When should we book a Minneapolis wedding photographer?
Booking a photographer is generally something you should do as soon as your venue and date are confirmed. Photography generally books 9-12 months out. That said, the right time is when you and your partner are ready to find a photographer, and that might be only a few months ahead of time. For the best selection of dates, a year is your best bet.
What makes you different from other Minneapolis wedding photographers?
There are two things that set me apart – my love of the messy and beautiful human experience, and my technical expertise.
Hopefully you can see them both in my portfolio of work – with 2 decades of experience, I have a huge set of skills to draw to take photos in any condition. Those skills have technical and equipment components so that I can light dark spaces or work with complicated lighting. It also means that I find joy in working with your family and guests, and I want to make your wedding better by being a joyful behind-the-scenes player in it.
What about St Paul wedding photography?
I love St Paul! I am Minneapolis focused because I live on this side of the river, but I’m always honored and thrilled to photograph celebrations in St Paul and all over the metro area!
Do you photograph outside of the Twin Cities?
Yes, I’ve enjoyed destination weddings from New Zealand to Ireland, and all over the US. Contact me for travel options.

If you are planning a wedding in Minneapolis or the Twin Cities, I’d love to connect with you about photography.
