The Aster Cafe river room is an incredible space for a Minneapolis wedding. Over the years I’ve photographed many weddings in their spaces, from winter elopements to huge summer celebrations. Basit and Serena’s wedding is a perfect showcase of what make the Aster Cafe such a lovely Minneapolis wedding venue.

Becca and Jesse’s Nicollet Pavilion Wedding couldn’t have done a better job of showing off the best of Minneapolis to all their guests. Yes, their love is infectious – they were playful and joyous and in the moment the entire day. The fall sun streaming through the trees during their ceremony contrasted perfectly with the cool crisp skyline later in the evening. Dancing and toasts and general frivolity made for a totally elevated day from start to finish! I couldn’t be more honored to have Becca and Jesse choose me to document their wedding. I’m thankful that they trusted me…
Minneapolis and St Paul (and the metro) have a huge range of cultures and food traditions to draw from, and as a metro area, we are really finding out own place in the food world.
Here are some of my favorite fun food things for out-of-town visitors to know about as they navigate the Twin Cities metro.
Summer light, WPA-era stonework, and Michael’s frozen custard – all topped up by a great time with Cate & Eric. I am so excited for their Madison wedding next year
Molly and Andy took a big leap to have a themed engagement session – they wanted something with a 60s feel, inspired by the album covers of Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings – and it takes a lot of effort to pull that off! I was so impressed that they really committed to the theme – Andy got a new suit, Molly broke out that fabulous dress and matching clutch, and I coordinated the locations. The best part about this engagement session is that, even though it has a specific style to it, Molly and Andy really make it…
Its been a few years since Adrianne & Ian’s heartfelt Woods Chapel wedding, and yet it still sticks with me. Partially, I’ve loved seeing their family grow (I’ve been taking photos of their twins since they were newborns!) but that it only part of it. Seeing Ian’s joy to be with Adrianne still stands out to me, even after these years. Also, if you’ve ever seen Chinese Lion Dancers perform at a wedding, you wouldn’t forget that, either. They have been through a great deal in their years together, and they brought a joyous sense of triumph to their heartfelt…
I am so very excited about these photos! Growing up, my mom always bought a freezer full of fresh cranberries in the fall to eat all year round. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized how unique that was, but now it is as much a part of my childhood as fresh baked bread or the occasional microwaved dinner – fresh cranberries are like home. And it wasn’t until I moved back to the Midwest that I realized that Wisconsin makes the majority of all cranberries in the US. Do you hear that Massachussets? Of course, the Cranberry marshes…
