Madison Club Wedding – Emma and Al

Celebrations matter. Celebrations matter because we bring our communities, our families, our people together so rarely. A wedding day isn’t the day that two people decide to spend their lives together – that is an ongoing process, started before the wedding, lasting throughout their marriage. A wedding day is simply the day that we choose to celebrate it – that we say to our communities “we have chosen each other”, and that your community gets to finally party! And that is pretty much what happened for Emma and Al’s wedding at the Madison Club. A totally gorgeous day, a breaking…

Minneapolis Country Club Wedding – Bethaney and Adam

I’m trying a different approach for writing about Bethaney and Adam’s Minneapolis Country Club Wedding – I’d like to add commentary to each of the images almost as stand alone images that, together, tell a greater story of their wedding day. Maybe it’s all the time I spend writing instagram captions, or the internal monologue that runs when I look sort through images for a blog post like this, but I find I want to tell more details. In the meantime, over a year has passed since their wedding – I recently had the pleasure of photographing them again with…

Van Dusen Mansion Wedding Minneapolis – Yibai and Lee

Yibai and Lee’s Van Dusen Mansion Wedding was a total joy. After their good humor when it rained for their engagement photos (rainy day engagement photos are awesome!), I knew they were both practical and so darn happy together! Which brings me to one of my proudest moments as a wedding photographer: I managed to get 25 military men to all look at me at the same time for a photo. It was the end of the night, and some of them might have enjoyed the reception quite a bit. There was definitely some heckling. Several of them thanked me.…

Hidden Meadow Barn Wedding, Wisconsin – Justin and Abby

Things you can tell just by looking at this Hidden Meadow Barn wedding I’ve spent the last few weeks updating my website – choosing the images that will represent my work to couples who find me, thinking about the kinds of questions couples have when they are planning their wedding and how I can best help navigate answers with them. Adding to my Frequently Asked Questions, updating my bio, thinking about navigating websites and SEO and usability. Sometimes, I just run out of things to say. I’m a visual person, and yet the nature of running a business requires so…

Campus Club Wedding Minneapolis – Elly and Zeke

A wedding day should be full of joy and laughter. In springtime, it should be full of sun, and perhaps some dashes of pink. Elly and Zeke got it all, though I’m certain that even had the day been overcast and rainy, even had things been covered in mud and the trees were bare, it still would have felt like warm spring with these two. One of their first dates was at the Minnesota State Fair, a perfect proving ground for love. Like a trip to Ikea, a successful navigation of the state fair with the one you love means…

Loring Restaurant Wedding Dinkytown Minneapolis – Brittany and David

Thrilled to share Brittany and David’s Loring Restaurant Wedding! It was truly a pleasure to work with them on their lovely and very fun wedding. I’m deeply touched by their kind review of me on the Knot: We can’t recommend Becca enough! Our engagement and wedding photos are gorgeous! Becca helped us relax and made us laugh and feel comfortable, so our genuine happiness showed through in the pictures. – Brittany and David Brittany and David are a wonderful mix of planning and ease, of elegant first dances followed by a caricature artist, or carefully chosen painted shoes (for her)…

Hazeltine Golf Course Wedding MN – Courtney and Andrew

The impending super bowl has got me thinking back to Courtney and Andrew’s Hazeltine Golf Course Wedding just weeks after the Ryder Cup was hosted there. Events of international interest and travel, elevating the twin cities for a moment to greater importance. And yet what is left behind here is what has always been here – a sense of community, a love of nature, a stoic sense of humor that comes with cold weather, and a joy of celebration that accompanies the same. Every good marriage should start with those things as well – celebration, a sense of place, laughter,…

Semple Mansion Wedding – Ashley and Brandon

Ashley and Brandon’s Semple mansion wedding was a warm celebration away from a cold December day. Their guests entered the mansion right into the intimate ceremony, and then were rewarded with a wine cellar cocktail hour before adjourning to the ballroom for dinner. From photos with their (adorable!) pup Kimchi to their elegant friend-led ceremony and some hilarious toasts, the night was full of laughter and joy. I particularly enjoyed their eclectic group of friends, many with theatrical backgrounds, who made the speeches and the dancing and the general banter so lively throughout the evening. It is clear that Ashley…
