JJ Hill Library Wedding

The James J Hill Library on Rice Park is a magnificent building with an unbeatable interior. In 2019, the library was closed to the public and has been resold, hopefully to open again as an event space.

It is a space I have absolutely adored photographing over the years, and is truly one of the most amazing architectural spaces in the Twin Cities. Below are some of my favorite images from weddings at the JJ Hill Library, as well as some ideas for wedding venues that are similar to the JJ Hill library.

St Paul High Bridge and Rice Park engagement – Meg and Peter

To walk through Rice park on a beautiful evening is pleasant. To do so with someone you love is perfect. And so we walked around the best of St Paul in late summer – the JJ Hill Library, then over to the High Bridge for a night-scape with the skyline. Because to find the right city, at the right time, and to love it, comes only a close second to finding the right person to share it with. Thanks, Meg and Peter, I can’t wait for your wedding when it warms up again.

St Thomas More Church wedding – Grace + Andy

I have been jokingly referring to Grace + Andy’s wedding as the most stylish St Paul wedding of 1930. As modern as they both are as people, they bring a timeless quality to their relationship – they share joy with their family and friends, and they clearly find comfort and love in each other. Grace wore the same wedding dress that her Grandmother and mother wore, Andy brings a touch of Cary Grant to his demeanor, and they will obviously pass all their love onto their future children for many more generations to come.
