Yibai and Lee’s Van Dusen Mansion Wedding was a total joy. After their good humor when it rained for their engagement photos (rainy day engagement photos are awesome!), I knew they were both practical and so darn happy together!
Which brings me to one of my proudest moments as a wedding photographer: I managed to get 25 military men to all look at me at the same time for a photo. It was the end of the night, and some of them might have enjoyed the reception quite a bit. There was definitely some heckling. Several of them thanked me.

Other proudest moments: all 7 of the hours before that moment, documenting Yibai and Lee’s lovely wedding at the Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis.
Old mansions can feel stuffy and stiff – unchanging and unchanged by those in them. But Yibai and Lee had so much to celebrate, and they all made the mansion feel positively alive.
I think they used every single part of the mansion (from the wine cellar to the reception hall to the patio and the back house). Summer complied with perfect weather, and their energetic guests cheered the happy couple.

Thank you, Yibai and Lee, for letting me document you. For your community. For so much joy, and never a moment of stuffiness.
