Engagement photos at Young Joni in Minneapolis – Bethaney and Adam

Engagement photos at Young Joni and embracing the cold

At some point when you live in the North, you have to make a decision: will you complain about the cold, or will you not complain about the cold.

It must be a conscious choice based on how you view the winter as a part of your life:  “the cold” is a season that happens over months, and it is either something that you view as an impediment to living your life, or you view as a part of living your life in this place.

I’ve made a choice to embrace winter as a season, to continue living fully during those months when being outside can hurt your face.

That said, Bethaney and Adam’s engagement portraits were in the coldest week of the year, and the wind definitely hurt our faces. We walked around their neighborhood, brought a blanket for warmth, and hit the speakeasy bar of Young Joni for a warm up. No complaints were heard.

So thrilled to photograph Bethaney and Adam’s wedding here in the warmer months, and so thrilled to have spent an evening with them in the blustery clear winter as well.
